Ok, here is a step by step method for building BLs. I think this simplifies the process quite a bit, eliminates the need for special software and will give you results pretty quickly. I didn't come up with most of this-it's scattered all about this forum so I figured I would post it all in one place.
1. Search for the KW that you want to target to find out who is nailing the top 3 spots in Google.
2. Use link:[url]www.thatsite.com[/url] to find out who is linking to them. Now the great part about this is that you already know that the sites you find are open to trading links!
3. Place a link to their site on your site (do not name your links pages links.htm or anything like that) and then email them to tell them that you've linked to them and you would like a link back. You will get a lot more responses this way than the other way around. You should also put the code to link back to you in your email so that al they have to do is copy & paste. The easier it all is the more likely they will trade.
4. Once you've nailed down the links pointing to your competitors, you can start going the the sites that link to you and finding the links that point to them and trade with them. This should keep you busy from now untill the end of time
You can also search for KW + link exchange in Google and find sites with a link exchange related to that KW
